Late 18th to early 19th century Old Sheffield Plate wax jack

Old Sheffield Plate wax jacks are now quite rare. They were designed to hold long coils of sealing wax and were a common endowment for a desk writing set. Today they are very sought after pieces, making attractive ornaments for display. Enthusiasm for Old Sheffield Plate is very high and is evidenced in the high prices they can command.
